Rudkhan Castle, also known as Qal’eh Rudkhan, is a majestic brick and stone fortress hidden deep in the lush forests of Gilan Province, northern Iran. Historical Background

Hiking to the Castle

To reach the castle, visitors must hike a scenic 2.5-kilometer trail through the dense Hyrcanian forest. The path is shaded by tall trees, with wooden bridges, small waterfalls, and local stalls selling snacks and tea.

The hike typically takes 45 to 90 minutes, depending on pace and fitness. The reward at the top is breathtaking: fog-covered trees, ancient walls, and complete immersion in nature.
